Lindsey and Ryan tied the knot at the always stunning Castle Hill Inn in Newport, RI. The couple chose a color palette of blush and ivory and Greenlion Design brought those hues to life with romantic and lush arrangements accented with natural greenery. The couple asked Lindsey’s mom to officiate the ceremony which made the occasion incredibly heartfelt and intimate. / Images by Erin McGinn Photography.
Says Lindsey, “Ryan and I wanted to find a location that had the easiness of our relationship, but felt a little formal, since we’re more of a laidback couple. Being outside for the wedding has always been something that I wanted, and once I found Castle Hill Inn and saw their beautiful tent, with the water and beautiful greenery as the backdrop, we fell in love!
My dream job has always been a wedding planner, so this was really my opportunity to be creative and add all the personal touches that I had been storing in my mind for the duration of our relationship (8 years)! One of our passions is music, so we spent a lot of time choosing the right ceremony music. Our close family friends are in the band, Swear and Shake, and [sang at] our ceremony with the songs we chose. Another great surprise for the ceremony was that my mom co – officiated the wedding.
My father passed away 10 years ago, and he and my mom had the epitome of what I would want for my marriage. Their marriage continues to serve as a shining example of what a marriage should be. Given that my dad would not be there for the wedding, and it was important that he was somehow represented the day of, I thought the perfect person to usher Ryan and I into our married lives would be my mom. My mom is one of the wisest, most loving people we know. She is so well spoken that her words and blessings [were] exactly what Ryan and I need[ed] to begin our lives together. When planning the décor and feel of the wedding, I knew I wanted something airy, whimsical and laid back, so I decided to go with creams and blushes. Anthropologie is one of my favorite stores and I saw this tablescape with mismatching patterned napkins, but were in the same color family. I really wanted to emulate that so we decided to find our own fabric and make our own napkins for the reception. [We included] a mixture of wood square farm tables and round tables with overlays with beautiful garlands and votives lining all the tables.”
