2016 has been a great year for travel as I got to tick off a lot of destinations I’ve been wanting to visit for a long time. Here’s my 2016 travel recap:
1. Bruges & Lille road trip in March
After coming back from Australia & Hong Kong mid-January I was a bit tired of flying so my boyfriend and I decided that the best would be to drive from London to Lille in France and then Bruges in Belgium which proved to be a good idea as it was much more relaxing and meant that we could stop along the way to every cheese & chocolate shop that we were passing by.
2. Rome family trip in May
In May I took a trip with my family to Rome, a city I’ve been wanting to go for a long time. There is so much to see, do and eat in Rome you could easily spend weeks in this beautiful city and not get bored.
3. Tel Aviv in May
I’ve heard so much about this cool city in the past few years that it was high on my “to visit” list and I’m glad I got to see it last year and I would love to go back, in particular to see more of Israel.
The beach, sunshine, food, laid back atmosphere, it feels like Tel Aviv has it all.
4. Ibiza with friends in August
Although our time in Ibiza was quite short, it’s such a beautiful island and with so much to offer that I would definitely like to go back and explore more.
5. Mykonos week-long break in August
I absolutely loved Mykonos. We had a week there so we rented a car which allowed us to chill out on a new beach every day. One of the best trips I’ve had last year.
6. Bucharest for friend’s wedding in September
Although my trip to Bucharest was very short, every time I go back to this city I’m impressed of how much it has changed. Hopefully this year I’ll get to spend a bit more time back home.
7. Poznan for office Christmas trip in December
As I was flying to New York the next day, I only got stay 1 day in Poznan for the company Christmas party however that proved enough to fit in a lot of drinking :).
8. New York city break in December
New York was another great trip as we got to do a lot of eating, shopping and sightseeing. My boyfriend and I also booked tickets to a basketball game at Madison Square Garden which was really fun. All the Christmas decorations were up which made the city particularly magical.
9. Spa breaks in English countryside: Coworth Park, Tylney Hall, & Pennyhill Park
Ahh the joy of a nice spa break somewhere in the countryside with no ambulance noises and a big breakfast waiting for you in the morning after which you end up back in bed for a nap.
Coworth Park wins in my heart for its spa facilities & room, Tylney Hall for breakfast and Pennyhill Park for its amazing outdoor pool.
